Perfect for Every Smile
The most common braces at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics are metal braces. These orthodontic workhorses have a long history of successfully straightening smiles for patients of all ages throughout Central Florida.
Central Florida Braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common and are more comfortable today than ever.
Metal braces at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics are made of high-grade stainless steel and straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires.
You can add colored elastics (rubber bands) with metal braces for a more unique and colorful smile. Or you can choose clear or white elastics for a more subtle look. This reliable option will give you a beautifully aligned smile no matter what braces you choose.
Our Braces Process
Before applying your braces at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics, we’ll collect photos and X-rays of your mouth.
Sometimes we’ll use our iTero Element scanner to scan each of your teeth and the layout of your gums and mouth. This process takes 10-15 minutes and provides a highly accurate 3D view of your mouth.
After the X-Ray and optional scan, your Central Florida orthodontist uses this information to create your customized treatment plan.
This will include how each tooth needs to be moved to get it in the best possible position. Your orthodontist will use this information to decide how to place your brackets.
For example, if you have some teeth that need to tilt, we’ll place those brackets differently compared to the brackets for teeth that need to be turned.
Once we attach your brackets, we’ll initially place very thin wires that apply light pressure to begin the process of aligning your teeth and arches. You’ll progress through a wire sequence at your following appointments that will allow your teeth to continue to level and align.
Our orthodontists will place bends and adjustments to the finishing wires that create the precision movements needed to align your teeth and customize your smile perfectly.
About Modern Braces
For most people, a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. After your braces come off, you'll feel more self-confident.
During your braces treatment at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible. Sleeker brackets and lighter wires improve the appearance and feel of modern braces and will irritate your mouth less.
By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move your teeth to a corrected position. You can choose brackets that are clear or metallic, and sometimes you can choose the color of the ties that hold the wire in place.
Wires are also less noticeable than they used to be, and the latest materials move teeth faster with less discomfort.
How Long Does Braces Treatment Last?
This is what all of our Central Florida patients want to know, but it’s something we don’t have a concrete answer for. Every mouth is different, and every patient responds to treatment in their own way. Treatment time with metal braces at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics will vary by case.
Treatment time typically ranges from one to three years, depending on the growth of your mouth and face and the severity of the problem. Everyone grows at different rates and will respond to orthodontic treatment differently, so the time until case completion may differ from the original estimate.
Your diligent use of any prescribed rubber bands or headgear is an important factor in achieving the most efficient treatment. Interceptive, or early treatment procedures, may take as few as six months.
