Central Florida Braces & Invisalign
Find Your Perfect Fit
Dental technology is constantly improving, and the team at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics is committed to bringing you the most advanced options in Central Florida.
You and your family deserve healthy, beautiful smiles with treatment that’s more comfortable and quicker than in the past. We’ll help you find your perfect fit.
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment and beyond. Invisalign is made with 3D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.
Invisalign clear aligners are invisible and removable, so you can eat and drink what you want during treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. The aligners are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment.
No metal and wires usually mean you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments.
Invisalign also allows you to view your virtual treatment plan when you start to see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed.
You'll visit our practice about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment progresses as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months, and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
Traditional metal braces are the most common braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Metal braces at Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics are made of high-grade stainless steel and straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires.
With metal braces, you can add colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile. Or you can choose clear or white elastics for a more subtle look. This reliable option will give you a beautifully aligned smile no matter what braces you choose.
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns.
While clear braces are less noticeable, they are larger and more brittle than their metal counterparts, requiring more attention to detail. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than lower teeth.
Laser Gum Contouring
At Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics, we recognize the benefit of utilizing the newest technology to go above and beyond in achieving incredible results for our patients.
The diode laser is one tool that allows us to optimize and improve our patient's smiles.
These lasers are comfortable, safe, and very effective. The procedure is done with a strong topical anesthetic, so no shots are needed!
Orthodontic lasers have numerous applications that can benefit our patients:
- Cosmetic shaping of gum tissue to give the teeth ideal proportions (proper width/height ratio)
- Reducing swollen, overgrown gum tissue to improve oral hygiene and appearance
- Expose(uncover) impacted teeth to decrease treatment time
- Decreasing a "gummy smile" appearance
Both Dr. Dietrich and Dr. Kelso have extensive training and experience using diode lasers to benefit your smile.
Indirect bonding has made placing braces more comfortable and accurate than ever. With indirect bonding, your doctor will make exact teeth molds in just a few minutes, and the rest of the work is done here in our laboratory.
When you return to the office a few days later, your braces will be positioned in personalized trays made just for you. Using these custom trays, your orthodontist will place your braces very quickly and all at once. The retractors that keep your teeth dry are in place for as little as 15 minutes.
Indirect bonding is not more common in the profession because of the time, expense, and expertise needed to master the process, but the results are well worth it. With indirect bonding, we can often shorten treatment times, achieve more incredible results, and make the process of placing the braces as comfortable as possible.
Cone Beam Scanner
Traditional 2-dimensional imaging can be inaccurate and limited in its information, so Cone Beam CT imaging is quickly becoming the standard of care in providing accurate, safe, and exceptional orthodontic treatment. Dietrich & Kelso Orthodontics is pleased to offer our patients the CS 9300 3D Cone Beam CT.
Orthodontists have historically relied on 2-dimensional X-rays in evaluating 3-dimensional structures. We are entering a new age of technology in orthodontics. With Cone Beam CT imaging, we can ensure a more comprehensive orthodontic diagnosis, exceptionally accurate treatment planning, and better outcomes for our patients by allowing for:
- 3D views of vital structures
- 3D evaluation of impacted tooth position and anatomy
- TMJ assessments of condylar anatomy in all three dimensions
- Orthognathic surgery treatment planning and growth assessments in true 1:1 imaging (traditional imaging can have 25-30% magnification distortion and inaccuracy)
- Airway and sinus assessments (important for patients suffering from sleep apnea)
- Planning for placement of dental implants for tooth restoration or orthodontic anchorage
- Assessment of skeletal symmetry or asymmetry
